Kill Your Past Before It Kills You

Kill Your Past Before It Kills You

What would happen if you drove you car and spent most of that time looking in the rear view mirror?

First of all it would take you a long time to get where your going. You wouldn’t be able to move very fast either. Secondly you there is a high probability that you would constantly have accidents. And lastly when your looking in the rear view mirror, your checking to see what’s going on behind you, trying to make sure there isn’t anything to worry about, which causes you to worry and be fearful.

It’s clear to see that navigating your car form the rear view mirror would not yield the optimal results of driving. It’s safe to say that the same thing applies to life. Navigating your life based on your past wont yield your optimal results.

Therefore you must Kill your past before it kills you.

There is absolutely nothing you can do to change the past..

Live in the moment, now is all there is.

Is your past killing your or simply slowing you down?

Money can’t fill an empty heart

cc fb template Mony cant fill empty heartl

Money can’t fix a broken heart. It seem like most people in America believe the money, above all other things, will make the biggest difference in their lives. The “American Dream” is based upon having more money than one needs.

Yes, Money can patch up holes in your house. Money can also easily fix a hole in your car, but no amount of money can fix a hole in your heart.

Yes, Money does bring comfort and a false sense of security, but money doesn’t create happiness and peace.

Money isn’t real.

If all money in the world disappeared today, only humans would be impacted. The rest of the living creatures of the world would be just fine. This is because humans have been conditioned to believe that money is needed to survive.

When you’re laid up in the hospital, your bank account won’t come visit you.Nurture your relationship, love people, not money.

Swim to shore, live to love another day

titanic

At what point do you jump off of a sinking ship? There is an old custom of the captain going down with the ship. I actually get it. It speaks to the captains commitment to his crew and the ship.

As a leader I believe I should “Take one for the team”. There is also a line where my self preservation genes kick in and I start swimming for the shore.

I have noticed that many people stay on sinking ships until the water is up to their nose. Most of the time these people aren’t the captain of these ships, yet they remain until their demise.

What’s more alarming is that these individuals are extremely apathetic towards their situation. Not only are they choosing to stay on the sinking ship, they most often deny that the ship is sinking, or even worse, just don’t give a damn.

I see this phenomena in romantic relationships all the time. Some people will stay in abusive, unhealthy, dysfunctional, or unhappy relationships and do little to nothing to make them better.

The just sit there like Leonardo Dicaprio in the final scene of the Titanic, accepting there downfall as if they have no option.

As long as one can breath and think, there are options. I’m here to tell you that the pain and fear of jumping ship from an atrocious relationship, is always less than the pain and suffering of staying and drowning to death.

If your relationship is sinking, do all that you can to repair it before you jump ship.

Swim to shore, live to love another day.

Why I walk 5 miles a day.

Walking man 21 days

My first 21 Day New Habit Challenge

Today marks the 22nd day in a row that I have walked 5 miles a day. This was my first new habit challenge. I am proud of my self for sticking to my commitment, no matter what. I walked in the rain. I walked in the cold. I walked at night. I walked when I was tired. I even walked when I was sick.

No matter how I felt before my walk, I felt better afterwards, every time. This is part of how it becomes a new habit. Not only by doing it everyday, but also from the enjoyment and benefits I get from walking.

I now know my neighborhood pretty well. I have been in most of the coffee shops around here and met new friends. I used my walking time as a meditative period. I listened to hours and hours of personal development material.

When I first started the walking it was a challenge, 21 days later, I look forward to doing it. I enjoy it, I actually want to do it. I’m truly excited about walking 5 miles. This has inspired me to create more new habits.

Good habits are easy to develop if you have will and desire and little help from some friends. Once you get started, your attitude will shift and you will find the difficult to be easy.

Happiness is an Inside Job

Happiness is an Inside Job.

I just got off the phone with a friend named April, she has ben going through a tough time with her fiancé. For the past six month April has had to share her man with another woman. The side chic is taking over and it is driving her bat Sh*t Crazy.

For April, this is hell; she has become obsessed with this situation. She can’t think of anything else right now. She is so afraid that she is about to loose everything, her home, her job, her man and her mind. April’s Fiancé is now in a full-blown relationship with the side chic.

He says that he wants to keep them both. April’s default response is “Ain’t nobody got time for that”, but she stays and tries to compromise. She just can’t do it. April is unable the watch the man she had planned on marring, be all lovey dovey with the side chic. The Breakdown begins.

Last night April and me talked and she was full swing in “F*%K It” mode about her relationship. Saying things like “He don’t give a fuck about Me.” and “I really don’t want to go home.” She was pissed off and she was planning her escape. I can relate to what she is going through, I have had my heart broken some many times that I stopped keeping track. I advised her to jump off the Titanic, “Your relationship is sinking, JUMP”.

Then I called her today to check on her, and make sure she made it through the night without altercation”. Well when she answered the phone I was startled by how good she sounded. Her voice had a high tone of joy and laughter that I hadn’t heard from her in quite some time. She was giggly and upbeat. This was not the person that I was on the phone with the night before.

Before I could ask her why she was so elated, she told me. Her man had shifted his attention and love back to her, for the first time in months. She told me that he asked her to spend the day with him and he told how she was pretty. Then they topped it off with some make up sex.

She told me that she was so happy right now and it was apparent. This got me to thinking, which is why I’m writing this post. I wanted to know what actually took place inside of her mind that caused such a massive shift so fast. How could she go from being upset and done with her fiancé to being happy in love like a first time teenager?

The shift that made the difference came from with her. The few words and common action from her fiancé was just a trigger. they did not make the difference. April chose to view her circumstances differently and that made the difference.

Here’s what became clear to me at the moment that I observed this, it’s not what happens to you, it’s what you do with it.

What do you make it mean and how do you react. You can give a persons behavior a good or bad rating. You can over react or under react.

April, at any time could have chosen to leave or stay. She and she only is in control of her happiness. She just doesn’t know it. She believes that she has to wait for others to act for her to determine how she feels.

Stop waiting for the world to change, you be the change in the world you want to see. You be the change in your relationship. You be the change on your job. You be the change I your family. You be the change in your community.

If you want to be happy, then be happy. Say this to your self-everyday

“If it’s to be it’s up to me”

People Who Make A Difference In The World: Raudel Torres

Raudel Torres talk bubbles

People who make a difference in the world.

Earlier this year I was in Las Vegas for 10 days. I gambled away money I shouldn’t have, I consumed more food than I should have and I drank entirely to much alcohol. When in Sin City, do as Sinners do. I went to a Cirque Du Soleil.  I visited red rock canyon, attended an arts festival and I hangout with some local and out of town friends. All of this was great, yet none of it was the most memorable part of my trip.

The thing that most impacted me was an amazing human being that I met walking down Fremont Street in “Old Las Vegas” His name is Raudel Torres. He was sitting on the pavement, in the middle of the street between four casinos. He sat there, legs crossed in a Lotus pose, greeting people as they passed by with two simple phrases. “Enjoy your life” and “I Love You”.

His expression of love for humanity blew me away. I was truly touched, moved and inspired by him. Of course I had to stop and have a few words with him. I wanted to know what was the driving force behind this great gesture of love for the world.

He told me that this was his first time doing this and that he was inspired by the loss of his grandmother, who had recently died.

He went on to say that he was very close to his grandmother and that loosing her had him develop a greater appreciation for life.  He now realizes just how precious life and love is and that he wants to share this revelation with the world. He wants people to know that they don’t have to do anything to receive love and that life is great just as it is right here and now.

I believe that Raudel’s act of love takes courage and self-confidence. I imagined myself doing it and the first thing that crossed my mind is what would others think of me. Would they think I’m crazy, on drugs or might they think I wanted something from them.

I realized that I was more moved by my fear of other and what they thought, than I was by my love and desire to generate love and make the world a better place.

This bothered me because I pride myself on being someone who is committed to bringing love to the world. I realize that I truly have to stop being concerned about what others think of me and just do what I’m here to do.

Let them think what they think, let them say what they say and I should just be who I am. This is a huge breakthrough for me.

I would have never thought that I would have gotten all of that from him.

It also got me to see how the smallest things I do could possibly have a great impact on others. The simplest act of love and kindness could change someone’s life forever.

Since meeting Raudel, I can more clearly see the power of one and the power of love.

Thank you Raudel for give me this possibility. I can’t wait to get back to Vegas again and spend some time in the presence of such a powerful loving man as he. Who knows I might even join him squatting on Fremont Street. I’ll start working on my Lotus position.

Managing The Human Condition

Managing the human condition

There are countless things that we all experience simply because it part of what it is to be human. This is commonly referred to as “The Human Condition.”
The difference in a Great  Life and an awful life is determined by how well you mange the human condition.
Everybody hurts, Everybody cries, everybody lives, everybody dies
Everybody poops, everybody pee’s, everybody eats, everybody sleeps
Everyone worries, everyone frets, everyone remembers, everyone forgets
Everyone doubts and Everyone belives, Everyone is
Your success in life is cleary determined by how you deal with life “As It Really Is”
You can’t manage something that you don’t understand. You can’t understand how a thing works without allowing it work. You have to let it work, on order to figure out how it works. If your trying to control how it works, there is no way you can truly understand how it actually works. Therefore your wanting control over things will be the cause that limits your control over the thing.
So the key to managing the human condition is to surrender to how life really is and work from there with a positive mental attitude towards everything.  That my friend is the one of the “KEYS TO THE KINGDOM.”
There is nothing more beneficial to life than a great attitude towards life. Your attitude is your life. Whatever your attitude is, your life will mirror it. Bad attitude, Bad Life, Good Attitude, Good Life, Great Attitude, Great Life.
Who wants to be managed by a person with a bad attitude. How many of us have had a boos with a bad attitude in some way or another. This type of boss made work unpleasant whenever they were around.
Well, now imagine that you are managing yourself with a bad attitude and you don’t even know it, just like you awful boss didn’t think he or she had bad a attitude. What if that’s just the way you are managing your human condition, with a bad attitude? Then maybe that is the reason that you life looks the way it does.
Things have to be dealt with powerfully in order to feel powerful around them. There is no power in pretending, True power is generated only in believing in what is real.
You can’t be happy by pretending that you are not human and that you do not suffer from what it is to be human.
The best way to manage The Human Condition is to except your life as it really is and manage it with an attitude that makes you feel great everyday. Then and only then will you experience the riches and the blessing of life, which is the only real wealth that exist.

Be the change you want to see in the world.

caitlin-jenner-media-strategy

Last night I watched the espy awards and the highlight of this sports awards show was when Caitlin Jenner, formerly know as Bruce Jenner, won the Arthur Ashe courage award.

Caitlyn said that the reason that she decided to revel her long kept secret to the world was to make a difference to others who are suffering as she had been for most of her life. The theme of her speech was acceptance. She believed people should be accepted and for who they are. She was particularly speaking about the trans genders community being accepted by others.

While I was watching her speech I became aware that acceptance was one of the things I wanted most from others. I realized that acceptance must be present for love to be fully experienced.

If someone I love tells me they love me, but they can’t accept me, I feel less loved. When Someone I love tells me that they love and accept me no matter what, I feel so loved that it’s unbelievable.

I really enjoyed the feeling of this revelation of how much love is connected to acceptance. Then I had another insight that made this moment even better.

I realized that before I can’t ask another person to love and accept me for who I am, I have to first love and accept me as I am.

When I truly choose to love and accept my life powerfully, life gives me power. When life gives me power, I feel powerful. Then I share my power with the world. There is no way I can be powerful in life when I don’t even like who I am.

Then another aspect of love and acceptance appeared to me. I began to think of all the people in my life that I don’t love and accept. Loving and accepting others is a part of feeling love and acceptance for myself. It must be given, in order to be received.

My call to action for the next week is this. I invite each and every one of you to join me in generating more love and acceptance. Here is how I will do this. I will make a list of 7 people that I want to have an amazing shift in my relationship with. This shift will be achieved by me rendering more love and acceptance. I will only listen to these people for their greatness. I will do this with one person every day over the next week.

I will also be more loving and accepting of myself. I will eliminate any and all conversations about myself that aren’t loving. I will stop beating up myself and stop making myself wrong.

I will also find an accountability buddy for this assignment. I will send my accountability buddy my list and have them hold me to it.

I challenge all who read this to do the same. Find the courage to make a change that will make a difference for yourself and the people you love.

Caitlyn Jenner did just that. She exhibited a tremendous amount of courage by coming out of the dark and sharing her true self with the world. Her courage has brought a massive amount of scrutiny on herself. It has also been the source of hope and inspiration for millions of others who don’t feel love and accepted.

I would like to acknowledge Caitlyn Jenner for being the change she wants to see in the world. For taking a stand to make a difference for others. This was one of the bravest acts I have ever seen.

She is now on her way to finally creating a life that she loves.

I encourage and invite you to be the change you want to see in the world.

Start now!
