Why I walk 5 miles a day.

Walking man 21 days

My first 21 Day New Habit Challenge

Today marks the 22nd day in a row that I have walked 5 miles a day. This was my first new habit challenge. I am proud of my self for sticking to my commitment, no matter what. I walked in the rain. I walked in the cold. I walked at night. I walked when I was tired. I even walked when I was sick.

No matter how I felt before my walk, I felt better afterwards, every time. This is part of how it becomes a new habit. Not only by doing it everyday, but also from the enjoyment and benefits I get from walking.

I now know my neighborhood pretty well. I have been in most of the coffee shops around here and met new friends. I used my walking time as a meditative period. I listened to hours and hours of personal development material.

When I first started the walking it was a challenge, 21 days later, I look forward to doing it. I enjoy it, I actually want to do it. I’m truly excited about walking 5 miles. This has inspired me to create more new habits.

Good habits are easy to develop if you have will and desire and little help from some friends. Once you get started, your attitude will shift and you will find the difficult to be easy.

You Don’t Understand Me.

How has your life been impacted by you not feeling understood? How many times have you gotten upset because you thought you weren’t understood? How many times have you had to explain yourself over and over again to someone because they didn’t seem to get your point of view? How many times have you gotten into arguments with someone simply because they didn’t understand your view?

This is my story, this is my song, and I know that I’m not alone. I can’t tell you how often I feel misunderstood. Feeling misunderstood has had a major impact on my life.

I enjoy the company of those who get me I don’t want to spend much time with those who make wrong all the time because they disagree. People who agree with me are way more fun to be with.

This was how it was for me for so long. Then one day I realized two things that changed my feeling of being understood.

First I realized that I was letting what others thought about me determine my reaction. When what I should be doing is responding to them based upon who I say I am.

When I’m responding to others based upon my commitment to life vs. reacting to what they think, I always come out better.

Secondly I realized that it’s better to first understand others, than it is to try and have them get you. There is a quote that goes “Seek to understand, before being understood”.

When I make a gracious effort to understand the wants and needs of others before mine, things tend to work out better. I experience a lot more friction when I’m trying to get my point across than when I’m trying to get their point. Now I seldom feel misunderstood and on the few occasions where I do, it really isn’t a big deal.

Be the change you want to see in the world. If you want others to understand you, you must first understand them.

Managing The Human Condition

Managing the human condition

There are countless things that we all experience simply because it part of what it is to be human. This is commonly referred to as “The Human Condition.”
The difference in a Great  Life and an awful life is determined by how well you mange the human condition.
Everybody hurts, Everybody cries, everybody lives, everybody dies
Everybody poops, everybody pee’s, everybody eats, everybody sleeps
Everyone worries, everyone frets, everyone remembers, everyone forgets
Everyone doubts and Everyone belives, Everyone is
Your success in life is cleary determined by how you deal with life “As It Really Is”
You can’t manage something that you don’t understand. You can’t understand how a thing works without allowing it work. You have to let it work, on order to figure out how it works. If your trying to control how it works, there is no way you can truly understand how it actually works. Therefore your wanting control over things will be the cause that limits your control over the thing.
So the key to managing the human condition is to surrender to how life really is and work from there with a positive mental attitude towards everything.  That my friend is the one of the “KEYS TO THE KINGDOM.”
There is nothing more beneficial to life than a great attitude towards life. Your attitude is your life. Whatever your attitude is, your life will mirror it. Bad attitude, Bad Life, Good Attitude, Good Life, Great Attitude, Great Life.
Who wants to be managed by a person with a bad attitude. How many of us have had a boos with a bad attitude in some way or another. This type of boss made work unpleasant whenever they were around.
Well, now imagine that you are managing yourself with a bad attitude and you don’t even know it, just like you awful boss didn’t think he or she had bad a attitude. What if that’s just the way you are managing your human condition, with a bad attitude? Then maybe that is the reason that you life looks the way it does.
Things have to be dealt with powerfully in order to feel powerful around them. There is no power in pretending, True power is generated only in believing in what is real.
You can’t be happy by pretending that you are not human and that you do not suffer from what it is to be human.
The best way to manage The Human Condition is to except your life as it really is and manage it with an attitude that makes you feel great everyday. Then and only then will you experience the riches and the blessing of life, which is the only real wealth that exist.

Be the change you want to see in the world.

Last night I watched the espy awards and the highlight of this sports awards show was when Caitlin Jenner, formerly know as Bruce Jenner, won the Arthur Ashe courage award.

Caitlyn said that the reason that she decided to revel her long kept secret to the world was to make a difference to others who are suffering as she had been for most of her life. The theme of her speech was acceptance. She believed people should be accepted and for who they are. She was particularly speaking about the trans genders community being accepted by others.

While I was watching her speech I became aware that acceptance was one of the things I wanted most from others. I realized that acceptance must be present for love to be fully experienced.

If someone I love tells me they love me, but they can’t accept me, I feel less loved. When Someone I love tells me that they love and accept me no matter what, I feel so loved that it’s unbelievable.

I really enjoyed the feeling of this revelation of how much love is connected to acceptance. Then I had another insight that made this moment even better.

I realized that before I can’t ask another person to love and accept me for who I am, I have to first love and accept me as I am.

When I truly choose to love and accept my life powerfully, life gives me power. When life gives me power, I feel powerful. Then I share my power with the world. There is no way I can be powerful in life when I don’t even like who I am.

Then another aspect of love and acceptance appeared to me. I began to think of all the people in my life that I don’t love and accept. Loving and accepting others is a part of feeling love and acceptance for myself. It must be given, in order to be received.

My call to action for the next week is this. I invite each and every one of you to join me in generating more love and acceptance. Here is how I will do this. I will make a list of 7 people that I want to have an amazing shift in my relationship with. This shift will be achieved by me rendering more love and acceptance. I will only listen to these people for their greatness. I will do this with one person every day over the next week.

I will also be more loving and accepting of myself. I will eliminate any and all conversations about myself that aren’t loving. I will stop beating up myself and stop making myself wrong.

I will also find an accountability buddy for this assignment. I will send my accountability buddy my list and have them hold me to it.

I challenge all who read this to do the same. Find the courage to make a change that will make a difference for yourself and the people you love.

Caitlyn Jenner did just that. She exhibited a tremendous amount of courage by coming out of the dark and sharing her true self with the world. Her courage has brought a massive amount of scrutiny on herself. It has also been the source of hope and inspiration for millions of others who don’t feel love and accepted.

I would like to acknowledge Caitlyn Jenner for being the change she wants to see in the world. For taking a stand to make a difference for others. This was one of the bravest acts I have ever seen.

She is now on her way to finally creating a life that she loves.

I encourage and invite you to be the change you want to see in the world.

Start now!

Run a new race and see what happens

Yesterday I ran in my first race. I have no background in playing sports whatsoever. I have never been a gym rat either.

So when a good friend asked me to run the peachtree road race, I didn’t think it was a good idea. I didn’t think I would be able to do it. I don’t have running shoes or running close. Also I would rather do something else on the 4th of July than run for 6 and a half miles.

With all of these background conversations running in my head, I quickly said yes to his request. I stepped out on faith, even though I didn’t know what I was doing.

I only trained for a few days and I might have stretched twice for about 2 minutes each time. I didn’t change my diet in any way. You could say I really didn’t train at all.

I also had only gotten an average of 5 hours of sleep each night for the past three nights. None of that stopped me from getting up at 5:30 am to prepare for the race.

That morning I was heading into town to participate in my first race. When I got about 6 blocks from the race start, I noticed car being turned around and the roads were blocked. As soon as I got out of the car it started raining and I didn’t have an umbrella or poncho.

I had to walk six blocks in the rain just to get to the starting line. By the time I got to the starting line my shoes and clothes were wet from the rain. There was also thunder and lightning that morning, so the race was delayed due to the weather.

None of this discouraged me form running the race. I didn’t know why, I just knew that I had to run this race.

I did run the race, I finished the race and I enjoyed the race. I enjoyed the race so much that I have already committed to running at least one race ever year.
This experience has also inspired me to getting back in shape.

I’m amazed at how great something can turn out, especially when it was something I didn’t really want to do and didn’t know how to do. by doing something you have no idea how to do. Sometimes nothing will go your way and you still have to move forward, step out on faith. believe that things will work out for the best and they will.

My request for my readers is going out a run a new race and see what happens.mike blocker peachtree road race 2015
