Have < Wants = Happiness

Happy Thanksgiving

First let me say Happy Thanksgiving to you, your family and friends. I hope that this day of gratitude brings joy and happiness all over your life. I hope you are not only able to give thanks to those you love, but also be able to receive it from those who love you.

I also would like to thank my readers for reading my blog this past year. Thank you for the comments, the likes and the forwards. I want to send a special thanks to those who reposted my post and those who have inspired me to write. Thank you very much.

Now on to my soapbox. Today I took a look at why is it that I’m not more thankful for the things that I have and for the life that I have. I really took a look at what is in the way from me really being happy with the life that I have right now. This is what I discovered. In areas that I feel that I want more, I don’t fell satisfied, therefore I don’t feel happy. To put it another way when I feel myself unhappy or not being grateful it’s because I want more than what I have.

So the theory that I came up with is this:  Have < Wants = Happiness.

It’s that simple, I find that I’m very happy when I don’t feel like I want, need or deserve more. When I’m not thinking of that next thing that I need to do or acquire, I simply enjoy what I have. My focus goes from I love what I have to I need more. There is a big difference in these two views.

When your main view of life is one based on scarcity, not having enough. Your life will look and go a quite different way then when your view of life is based on a view of gratitude. An attitude of gratitude goes a long way.

I invite you to take a look into your life. Tell me what you see. Do you notice that you feel less satisfied, maybe even unhappy around those things that you want to be different or more? Imagine if you just let that view go. Imagine that you are just where you want to be right now and you love it. Your life is perfect whole and complete just as it is.

From this perspective there will always be countless reasons to be thankful for the things in your life. You could write volumes everyday about what you love about your life. Being grateful makes life worth living and pleasant.

Have a Happy Thanksgiving, enjoy your life and keep your wants less than your haves and you will, forever be happy.
